My eye was first drawn to this subject about 3 years before taking it on, and when I arrived into town for the week of the event, I finally got the sense that its time had come. I spent the first day and a half sketching and watching this subject's changing moods before realizing that the spirit of the piece for me was as a morning painting. My affections for the subject almost interfered with my process at the beginning, but fortunately the act of painting ultimately took over and my 5 days plus getting to know this spot was a very enriching experience. |
