Welcome to painted meditations for Holy Week of 2025 |
The theme for this year became “flowers,” when this small autumn budding rose reminded me of the smallness and lonliness that our Lord must have faced during His Passion. Clearly His Communion with the Father told Him what was coming, and even who would do and say what. But his human self ... it had to hurt, the betrayals and abandonment, and then all that physical pain. Have you ever had friends or family turn on you or betray your trust? I had a good one this last year, but after an instant of Grace when it occurred to me that it was the strangest of invitations, even a gift of a very unusual kind, it began to be transformed. It was a chance to get to know Jesus even better, a privileged place to draw a little nearer, and a thing of some importance that we could privately share and heal. This following and attempting to imitate Jesus is not for wimps. But we do have Him to do it with us. |
